Faculty

Peter G. Stock, M.D., Ph.D. is Professor of Surgery at UCSF, Surgical Director of the Pediatric Renal Transplantation Program and Surgical Director of the Pancreas Transplant Program. He was trained at the University of Minnesota, completing a surgical residency before coming to UCSF for a transplant fellowship. He joined the UCSF faculty in 1992.  

Recently, a clincial investigation on which Dr. Stock served as principal investigator led the passage of the Hope Act lifting the ban on research for transplanting organs between HIV-positive donors and recipients.

Highly respected by his peers, Dr. Stock was named to the list of U.S. News "Top Doctors," which denotes the top 10% of physicians within a region practicing a given specialty. He is a frequent presenter on issues related to transplantation and immunosuppression, and holds membership in numerous professional and honorary societies. Dr. Stock specializes in liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation.

Resident

Jenny Kaplan, M.D. is a general surgery resident at UCSF and is currently spending two years as a research fellow pursuing clinical outcomes projects. Dr. Kaplan has a B.S. in neuroscience from UCLA and received her M.D. from Northwestern University in 2011. She currently a masters student in the UCSF Training in Clinical Research program, and is working to develop a care pathway for frail older adults after surgery.

Clinical Fellow

Johannes Kratz, M.D., was a research fellow in the Thoracic Oncology Lab from 2008-11. Dr. Kratz received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School, graduating Magna cum laude in 2006. He also holds a Masters in Philosophy from Stanford where he did his undergraduate work. Dr. Kratz is currently a Resident in the Department of General Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.

In addition to his translational work, Dr. Kratz conducted basic science research in the lab as part of a project studying inflammation and lung tumorigenesis.

Dr. Kratz has published fourteen peer-reviewed papers date, eight of them as first author, and has been the recipient of numerous awards and grants including the Partners Healthcare Resident/Fellow as Teacher Award, Willard M. Daggett Award, ....................

Advanced Professional Staff - NP etc.

Kerry Decker, MSN, RN, NP is a nurse practitioner and Co-Director of the UCSF Surgical and Critical Care NP Fellowship Program. As a nurse practitioner on the inpatient adult liver transplant service, Kerry manages patients with decompensated cirrhosis who are waiting for and recovering from liver transplant surgery. With her experience working in primary care, she has a special interest in bridging continuity of care between health care settings and easing transition for patients and their families.

Kerry is passionate about promoting opportunities for education and career development for nurses and nurse practitioners. She has been a clinical instructor of nursing at Massachusetts General Hospital and a preceptor at UCSF. She is also co director of the Surgical and Critical Care Nurse Practitioner Fellowship Program at UCSF.

Kerry earned a bachelor's degree in Health Science with minors in American Studies and Communication Science Disorders from James Madison University. She subsequently earned her Master's in Nursing from MGH Institute of Health Professions, where she graduated with honors. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and by the National Certification Corporation as a Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner. She is also a member of the California Association for Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau.
